Why Rent a Condo?

Most people who attend the Hangout Oyster Cook-off rent a condo or beach house instead of reserving a hotel room. Condos and houses are often more affordable than hotels because there is enough room for the whole family, or you can split the price with friends.

Condos and houses have fully equipped kitchens so you can stock the fridge and freezer with groceries, snacks or cold refreshments. And you can pack less in your suitcase – condos are equipped with a washer and dryer.

  • Condos & beach houses have multiple bedrooms, so it’s comfortable for the whole family.

When selecting a property, you need to think about the following.

  • How many people will be sleeping in the property?
  • How many separate bedrooms do you need?
  • How many bathrooms do you need?

There are condos and beach houses located close to the Cook-off or you can choose nearby locations on the Gulf, the lagoon, waterways, or even golf courses.

It’s usually more affordable to stay in Fort Morgan, Orange Beach or Perdido Key. Although you can’t walk to the Cook-off from these locations they are just a short drive away.

Condo and house amenities vary by property. Anything is possible, including: indoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, full spas, tennis courts, fitness rooms, media centers, wireless internet, game rooms and even on-site restaurants.

Driving to the Hangout Oyster Cook-off is easy from cities across the southeast and mid-west. Atlanta, Chattanooga, Memphis, Athens, Asheville, Tampa Bay, Gainesville, Nashville and Houston are all just a short day’s drive away. And if you live in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Montgomery or Jackson, you can be here in a few hours.

Once you hop off I-65, I-10 or Highway 98, the Gulf Shores Parkway and Beach Express make it easy cruise straight down to the beach and the Hangout Oyster Cook-off.

Most major airlines fly into nearby Mobile and Pensacola airports. Both airports are about an hour’s drive from the Hangout Oyster Cook-off, so once you land you’ll want to rent a car.
